Satellite Downlink Scheduling Under Breakpoint Resume Mode

نویسندگان

چکیده

A novel problem called satellite downlink scheduling (SDSP) under breakpoint resume mode (SDSP-BRM) is studied in our paper. Compared to the traditional SDSP where an imaging data has be completely downloaded at one time, SDSP-BRM allows of broken into a number pieces which can different playback windows. By analyzing characteristics SDSP-BRM, we first propose mixed integer programming model for its formulation and then prove NP-hardness SDSP-BRM. To solve problem, design simple effective heuristic algorithm (SEHA) problem-tailored move operators are proposed local searching. Numerical results on set well-designed scenarios demonstrate efficiency comparison general purpose CPLEX solver. We conduct additional experiments shed light impact segmental strategy overall performance SEHA.

Satellite downlink scheduling problem: A case study

The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology enables satellites to efficiently acquire high quality images of the Earth surface. This generates significant communication traffic from the satellite to the ground stations, and, thus, image downlinking often becomes the bottleneck in the efficiency of the whole system. In this paper we address the downlink scheduling problem for Canada’s Earth ob...

Condor and Preemptive Resume Scheduling

Condor is a batch job system that, unlike many other scheduling systems, allows users to access both dedicated computers and computers that are not always available, perhaps because they are used as desktop computers or are not under local control. This introduces a number of problems, some of which are solved by Condor’s preemptive resume scheduling, which is the focus of this paper. Preemptiv...

Smart - Suspend-and-Resume for Rarity Scheduling

It is common nowadays to architect and design scaled-out systems with off-the-shelf computing components operated and managed by off-the-shelf open-source tools. While web services represent the critical set of services offered at scale, big data analytics is emerging as a preferred service to be colocated with cloud web services at a lower priority raising the need for off-the-shelf priority s...

Low-Complexity Multiantenna Downlink Scheduling

This paper proposes a low-complexity scheduling algorithm with opportunistic channel state feedback using zero-forcing dirty paper coding (ZF-DPC) or zero-forcing (ZF). Whereas some existing schemes suffer a delay to update the serving users, the proposed algorithm continues to update the serving users immediately at each opportunistic channel feedback. Due to this dynamic serving user adaptati...

Project Scheduling under Resource and Mode Identity Constraints . Part I

A recurring problem in project management involves the allocation of scarce resources to the individual jobs comprising the project. In many situations such as audit-staff scheduling, timetabling, and course scheduling, the resources correspond to individuals (skilled labour). This naturally leads to an assignment-type project scheduling problem, i.e. a project has to be performed by assigning ...
